Learning Programs Approval Process
The 2007 Technology Levy established a funding category for technology based learning programs. The focus of these programs will be to address existing achievement gaps. The Learning Programs sub-committee of the district’s Technology Committee will accept requests for funding approval. This group will review requests and then make recommendations to the Technology Committee for funding approval. Approval of requests will be based upon available funds and the following criteria:
1. The program is considered as a district-wide or level-wide resource
2. The resource is sustainable in terms of ongoing costs and support
3. Planning for training/staff development is considered
4. The use of the resource is linked to existing learning goals
5. Existing research indicates significant learning improvement
6. The district has the technical infrastructure and capacity to run it
The
Technology Committee will consider the recommendation of the Learning
Programs sub committee and by general consensus will approve/disapprove
the request. The superintendent’s Cabinet may determine a final
prioritization for the implementation of programs based on the impact
of the implementations on district resources.
Information
Technology staff will review the program’s technical requirements to
ensure that the program will be compatible with existing systems and
run successfully. They will confirm that the technical support team can
maintain the program.
The Technology Director will provide
regular reports to the Technology Committee on the Learning Programs
budget and the status of requests.
Content-based learning
programs must also seek approval as instructional material through the
Instructional Materials Committee (IMC). This approval can be sought in
parallel with the levy funding approval process. Final Board approval
is needed prior to implementation of any instructional material.
