Annual Plan 2008-2009
- Additional network infrastructure will be upgraded including remaining network switches at the elementary level.
- A disaster recovery system will be implemented to ensure that the district can re-establish data reliant services in the event of a disaster.
- Laptop computers will be distributed to teachers during two waves (August and February). Each wave will have associated training sessions. Buildings must declare their “readiness” to move to Tier 2 and “commit” to training sessions.
- Additional standards-based computers will be distributed to meet a target of four computers per classroom at the elementary and middle school levels and six computers per classroom at the high school level.
- New computers will be available for itinerate SPED staff.
- Remaining non standards-based computers (identified during 2007) will be replaced in each building. All non standards-based computers will be surplused.
- Classrooms will receive Technology Enhanced Classroom (TEC) equipment in those buildings committing to distribution/training for waves three and four.
- Interactive whiteboards and student response systems will be available for buildings declaring readiness for these technologies and willing to commit to additional training. (Limited to one per six classrooms)
- Remaining sites will receive a 30-station mobile computer lab. This will include any elementary excluded in the first year (2007-08) and a second lab to each comprehensive high school.
- Additional software based learning programs (TBD) will be implemented as strategic interventions where appropriate.
- Family Access continues rolling out across secondary sites. Assuming successful implementations for Jefferson, Reeves and Capital, then Washington and Marshall Middle Schools will move toward full implementations.
- Program Support funds will become available to all buildings to support site-specific priorities with technology. These funds are allocated to each building based on FTE counts and can be accessed through a request process linked to building level teaching and learning goals.
- A mobile video conferencing system will be placed into each secondary site.
